BACB 2026 RBT Changes

ABC Behavior Blocks' course is designed to be flexible, engaging, and—most importantly—effective in preparing you for real-world work as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT).

In this 40-hour hybrid course, you’ll go through a thoughtfully designed learning experience that blends on-your-schedule online training with hands-on practice and instructor support. You’ll complete most of your training online. Modules are available whenever it works best for you through self-paced sessions. After unit modules are complete you can schedule your in-person or virtual sessions to build confidence and fluency through guided practice.

This course is broken into four structured units, with each unit offering 10 hours of learning to help you build your skills step by step, all the way to RBT readiness.

Each unit includes two parts:

1. 6 Hours of Online Learning
2. 4 Hours of Hands-On Practice

Your online learning experience will include a mix of engaging video lessons, quick knowledge checks, interactive activities, and real-world role play demonstrations—all designed to help you retain information and build meaningful skills.

These tools are all about active learning, not passive watching—so you’ll walk away with more than just theory.

Once you complete the online section, your 4-hour hands-on session will give you the chance to:

• Practice key RBT tasks hands-on
• Ask questions and clarify key information
• Get feedback and support from your instructor
• Build competence and confidence before moving forward with your training.

After completing all four units—and the four instructor sessions—you’ll earn your 40-hour certificate of completion, making you eligible to move forward with your RBT Competency Assessment and the BACB 2nd Edition RBT exam.
